Zhongshan City Overseas Chinese Museum

The idea of building a museum dedicated to the history of overseas Chinese who were from Zhongshan was conceived around 2013. To prepare for the museum, a team from the Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau has travelled to different locations in the world in 2013-2015, including Australia, the US, Canada, Cuba etc to collect artefacts from the Chinese migrant families for displaying at the museum in future.

Due to various reason, the construction work for the Overseas Chinese museum has been delayed for several years. However, a two-volume book has been published by the Zhongshan City Museum on the items collected from overseas for the planned museum.

In 2021, the construction of the Zhongshan City Overseas Chinese Museum is almost completed. The museum locates at a precinct near the Zhongshan City Museum in Shekki and is expected to open for its first exhibition in July 2021.
